Description

Connect your existing industrial equipment to Waspmote and transmit via wireless protocols the data without interfering in your existing SCADA or software systems. With these industrial protocol kits, you will be able to connect a wide range of computer and automation systems, PLCs, industrial PCs, electricity, water or gas counters, data-loggers, industrial sensors, etc.

This kit includes the features of the WiFi connectivity plus the benefits of having a RS-232 connection to be integrated with industrial devices. The Waspmote WIFI module incorporates 802.11 b/g/n radio, 32 bit processor, TCP/IP stack, real-time clock, crypto accelerator, power management unit and analog sensor interface. The RS-232 standard was first introduced in 1962 by the Radio Sector of the EIA. The original DTEs (data terminal equipment) were electromechanical teletypewriters, and the original DCEs (data circuit-terminating equipment) were usually modems. For many years, an RS-232-compatible port was a standard feature for serial communications, such as modem connections, on many computers. The RS-232 standard is still used to connect industrial equipment (such as PLCs), console ports and special purpose equipment.

Waspmote is an open source wireless sensor platform specially focused on the implementation of low consumption modes which allows the sensor nodes ("motes") to be completely autonomous, that is battery powered. Lifetime of Waspmote sensor nodes may go from 1 to 5 years depending on the duty cycle and the radio used.

Waspmote is based on a modular architecture. The idea is to integrate only the modules needed in each device optimizing costs. For this reason all the modules (radios, sensor boards, etc) plug in Waspmote through sockets.
