Post subject:  RPI + Shield + Bluetooth PRO : gateway mode ?

Hello,

Following the tutorial ( https://www.cooking-hacks.com/documenta ... -tutorial/ ) it's said that "we will connect bluetooth module PRO in Gateway mode" but i have found no documentation on how to set up this "Gateway mode".

Can you help me to set up this gateway mode or link to any tutorial already written ?

Regards,

Kaidan

Hi,

You can get more information on the bluegiga website
https://www.silabs.com/products/wireles ... s-2-module

The module needs to run the IWRAP firmware to be used in gateway mode. In addition, you will need to remove the microcontroller from Arduino to use it in gateway mode and jumpers must be set to USB position.

Thanks for your answer but i'm sorry, i still don't get it.

In the tutorial, it's written that "The module has an integrated firmware called IWRAP which allows several possibilities" so it's built-in, right ?

I use a Raspberry Pi and your "Raspberry Pi to Arduino Shield" so i don't understand why you are talking about the Arduino ? I maybe missed an important information but is an Arduino board required to use the shield and Bluetooth Pro module ? I'm very new to Raspberry and Arduino worlds.

Hi,

Sorry, we didn't realize that you write in the topic name that you are using an RPI. You can send commands directly to the module using a software serial like minicom. Take a look at the Device discovery with Raspberry Pi section of the tutorial.

Yes, the IWRAP firmware is built-in.

I already tried to follow the tutorial and tried Minicom and Cutecom.

Minicom won't allow me to enter commands.

With Cutecom, i can type commands but i see no answer.

Hi,

The commands must finish with CR/LF. Did you configure that?

I followed all the steps and it's not working.

I have no clue how to debug this.

Hi,

Please test again with Minicom following carefully the steps of the tutorial.

If still not working please share with us some screenshot of the errors you get.
