I am doing some test with an Arduino One with an Xbee Shield and the RFID module that is sold there, in coocking hacks. I have found a problem when uploading the application code to the arduino board. When the RFID module is not connected, there is no problem, but when it is plugged I get the following error:

avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0xe0
avrdude: stk500_disable(): protocol error, expect=0x14, resp=0xe0

I have seen several people with this problem on other forums but no solution proposed seems to work for me. It is strange because every time I disconnect the RFID module (or the Xbee shield), the squetch loading works perfectly again.

Has anyone found also with this problem?

Hello Dani,

What you explain is normal: it is just not possible to upload code to Arduino while the RFid module is plugged. It is not possible if an XBee is plugged either.

The reason why is that the RFid (or XBee module) shares with the USB line the same microcontroller's UART so that there can be collisions that avoid the proper code upload to Arduino.

The solution is that you should unplug the RFid before uploading code.
