USB2.0 Transceiver IC - USB3318
€3.85The USB3318 is a high-speed USB 2.0 transceiver (PHY) that supports system architectures based on a 13MHz reference clock. The USB3318 is an extremely flexible chip which allows the USB connector to act as a single port of connection for high speed data transfer, battery charging and stereo/mono audio accessories.
The USB3318 uses the industry standard UTMI+ Low Pin Interface (ULPI) to connect the USB PHY to the Link. Resettable Fuse PTC
€0.95This is a handy little device that can save your system from smoking. A resettable fuse (also known as a PTC) is a resistor that has very unique properties.

For this model, if your circuit tries to draw more than 250mA of current (if you have a bad short for instance) the PTC would 'trip' (by heating up). The increased resistance (trip state) would break the circuit and allow only a small leakage current.
The leakage current may still be enough to hurt some electronics but it's much less than the 3A that the short may have allowed. Removing the short, the PTC 'resets' and allows current up to 250mA to flow again. It's a resettable fuse that protects your system! Good for use on battery powered devices that need to protect again high-current accidental discharges.
The thermal pictures to the right do a great job of showing what happens when the PTC is tripped. The first thermal picture shows a voltage regulating circuit in its normal state. In the second picture the circuit is shorted, notice how hot the PTC gets (213 °F!) as it limits the amount of damaging current going through the circuit. Electrode - Self-Adhesive (pair)
€4.00These body electrodes were originally manufactured for use in electric therapy. While we can't condone the use of these in medical therapy, they can be useful for hobby applications. Each electrode is essentially just a conductive pad coated with adhesive gel and terminated on the opposite side with a snap connector. These electrodes are sold in pairs along with an electrode lead with a snap connector for each at one end and a 2.5mm jack at the other.
Although we have no information available regarding the voltage and current tolerance of these electrodes, it's probably safe to say that they will handle much more power than you would ever want to conduct through soft tissue!
The adhesive is a gel similar to what you might find on Pasties or those sticky hand toys you (try to) win at arcades and carnivals. After a few applications, the gel collects contaminants and becomes less adhesive, rinsing them with water will help it regain its adhesive properties.

Rotary Encoder

The encoder is different from a potentiometer in that an encoder has full rotation without limits. The DS1077 can be used as a processor-controlled frequency synthesizer or as a standalone oscillator. The two synchronous output operating frequencies are user-adjustable in submultiples of the master frequency through the use of two on-chip programmable prescalers and a divider. The specific output frequencies chosen are stored in non-volatile (EEPROM) memory. The DS1077 defaults to these values upon power-up.
The DS1077 features a 2-wire serial interface that allows in-circuit on-the-fly programming of the programmable prescalers (P0 & P1) and divider (N) with the desired values being stored in NV (EEPROM) memory. Design changes can be accommodated in-circuit on-the-fly by simply programming different values into the device (or reprogramming previously programmed devices). Alternatively, for fixed frequency applications, previously programmed devices can be used and no connection to the serial interface is required. -

At sometime or another you may run out of pins on your Arduino board and need to extend it with shift registers. With this shift out module which is based on 74HC595. The datasheet refers to the 74HC595 as an "8-bit serial-in, serial or parallel-out shift register with output latches; 3-state." In other words, you can use it to control 8 outputs at a time while only taking up a few pins on your microcontroller. You can link multiple registers together to extend your output even more.
