Oxygen saturation is defined as the measurement of the amount of oxygen dissolved in blood, based on the detection of Hemoglobin and Deoxyhemoglobin. Two different light wavelengths are used to measure the actual difference in the absorption spectra of HbO2 and Hb. The bloodstream is affected by the concentration of HbO2 and Hb, and their absorption coefficients are measured using two wavelengths 660 nm (red light spectra) and 940 nm (infrared light spectra). Deoxygenated and oxygenated hemoglobin absorb different wavelengths.

QRE1113 Line Sensor Breakout - Analog
Excl. Tax: € 2,55 Incl. Tax: € 3,09This version of the QRE1113 breakout board features an easy-to-use analog output, which will vary depending on the amount of IR light reflected back to the sensor. This tiny board is perfect for line sensing applications and can be used in both 3.3V and 5V systems.
The board's QRE1113 IR reflectance sensor is comprised of two parts - an IR emitting LED and an IR sensitive phototransistor. When you apply power to the VCC and GND pins the IR LED inside the sensor will illuminate. A 100Ω resistor is on-board and placed in series with the LED to limit current. A 10kΩ resistor pulls the output pin high, but when the light from the LED is reflected back onto the phototransistor the output will begin to go lower. The more IR light sensed by the phototransistor, the lower the output voltage of the breakout board.
These sensors are widely used in line following robots - white surfaces reflect much more light than black, so, when directed towards a white surface, the voltage output will be lower than that on a black surface.
The power input and analog output pins are brought out to a 3-pin, 0.1" pitch header. The board also has a single mounting hole if you want to screw the board onto something. We also have an digital version of this board.

Breakout Board for ADMP401 MEMS Microphone
Excl. Tax: € 8,50 Incl. Tax: € 10,29This tiny breakout board features the ADMP401 MEMs microphone. One of the key advantages to this breakout and microphone is the bottom ported input. This means the microphone's input can fit flush against the enclosure of your project. Plus you will not have to deal with trying to solder the microphone's wacky footprint. Wootness!
The amplifier on the breakout has a gain of 67 and more than meets the bandwidth requirements of the mic. The amplifier's AUD output will float at one half Vcc when no sound is being picked up. The amplifier produces a peak-to-peak output of about 200mV when the microphone is held at arms length and is being talked into at normal conversational volume levels. So the AUD output can easily be connected to the ADC of a micro.
Features:
- -3dB roll off at 100Hz and 15kHz
- 1.5 to 3.3VDC supply voltage
- Should comfortably output 40mW
- SNR of -62dBA

Voice modulator IC - HT8950
Excl. Tax: € 4,00 Incl. Tax: € 4,84Want to sound like a robot? The HT8950 is a single chip CMOS LSI voice modulator ICs which provide seven steps to shift the frequency of an input voice, producing a dramatic change in the output.
The HT8950 provides two special effects: vibrato and robot. The vibrato effect is generated by alternating the frequency of an input signal up and down at a rate of 8Hz. The robot function, on the other hand, converts an input voice into a robot voice. Both effects can be selected depending on which pin is triggered, either ROB or VIB. For the output frequency level shifting, the chips provide seven steps which can be selected from the two groups of pins namely, SW0, SW1 and SW2 for electronic direct selection and ROB, TGD, TGU and VIB for push button selection.
The HT8950 include a built-in microphone amplifier with an internal bias, an 8-bit A/D converter, a built-in SRAM as well as a current output type 8-bit D/A converter. The 8-bit A/D and D/A converters with a sampling rate of 8kHz ensures a high quality and high S/N ratio output voice. The chips provide an LED indicator which flashes in accordance with the volume of the input voices.
Features:
- Operating voltage: 2.4V~4.0V
- On-chip SRAM
- Robot function
- Vibrato function
- 8kHz sampling rate
- 7-step level shifting
- 8-bit A/D and D/A converters

Flex Sensor 2.2"
Excl. Tax: € 7,70 Incl. Tax: € 9,32A simple flex sensor 2.2" in length. As the sensor is flexed, the resistance across the sensor increases. Patented technology by Spectra Symbol - they claim these sensors were used in the original Nintendo Power Glove. I love the Nintendo Power Glove. It's so bad!
The resistance of the flex sensor changes when the metal pads are on the outside of the bend (text on inside of bend).
Connector is 0.1" spaced and bread board friendly. Check datasheet for full specifications.Note: Please refrain from flexing or straining this sensor at the base. The usable range of the sensor can be flexed without a problem, but care should be taken to minimize flexing outside of the usable range. For best results, securely mount the base and bottom portion and only allow the actual flex sensor to flex.

Electrode - Self-Adhesive (pair)
Excl. Tax: € 4,00 Incl. Tax: € 4,84These body electrodes were originally manufactured for use in electric therapy. While we can't condone the use of these in medical therapy, they can be useful for hobby applications. Each electrode is essentially just a conductive pad coated with adhesive gel and terminated on the opposite side with a snap connector. These electrodes are sold in pairs along with an electrode lead with a snap connector for each at one end and a 2.5mm jack at the other.
Although we have no information available regarding the voltage and current tolerance of these electrodes, it's probably safe to say that they will handle much more power than you would ever want to conduct through soft tissue!
The adhesive is a gel similar to what you might find on Pasties or those sticky hand toys you (try to) win at arcades and carnivals. After a few applications, the gel collects contaminants and becomes less adhesive, rinsing them with water will help it regain its adhesive properties.
Note: This product is NOT a medical device and is not intended to be used as such or as an accessory to such.

Blood Pressure Sensor (Sphygmomanometer) for e-Health Platform [Biometric / Medical Applications]
Excl. Tax: € 75,00 Incl. Tax: € 90,75This Sphygmomanometer allows to measure the blood pressure and read it with Arduino. Blood pressure is the pressure of the blood in the arteries as it is pumped around the body by the heart. When your heart beats, it contracts and pushes blood through the arteries to the rest of your body. This force creates pressure on the arteries. Blood pressure is recorded as two numbers—the systolic pressure (as the heart beats) over the diastolic pressure (as the heart relaxes between beats).
You can find our e-Health Sensor Platform Complete Kit to get a complete First Aid Kit for Makers or buy the e-Health Sensor Shield separately.
IMPORTANT: The e-Health Sensor Platform has been designed by Cooking Hacks in order to help researchers, developers and artists to measure biometric sensor data for experimentation, fun and test purposes. However, as the platform does not have medical certifications it can not be used to monitor critical patients who need accurate medical monitoring or those whose conditions must be accurately measured for an ulterior professional diagnosis.
