Hi,

I have a brand new Squidbee mote and gateway. My setup is connected to an iMac running OSX 10.6.

I connected my mote to a 9V battery, and the LED inside started blinking. I then installed the drivers for OSX and attached my gateway using the provided usb cable. I opened a serial port terminal with the settings on the tutorial page (9600 baudrate, 8 bits, no parity, 1 stop bit).

My iMac is able to succesfully detect the gateway's connection, but I'm not seeing any data being received via the serial port terminal. When I connect to the gateway using the Arduiono IDE, I receive an error when I try and read from or write to the board.

I would appreciate any help troubleshooting this problem. At this point, it could be a number of different things:

1) My antennae might attached improperly - e.g. on to tight, too loose...
2) The serial port terminal might be configured improperly or does not work with my system
3) The drivers might not be up to date, or were installed incorrectly
4) A hardware bug or loose connections on either of the two arduino boards
5) Software bugs on the Arduino boards

I would appreciate any help. I can answer any questions that you need to know the answers to.

Thanks,
Adam

¡Hola!

Gracias,
Adán

Hi adambom,

It's probably because of the driver, take a look to this guide for MAC OS
http://www.arduino.cc/en/Guide/MacOSX

Let us know if you solve it.

Regards

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately, I'm still having trouble.

I followed the tutorial from the arduino website and unfortunately it's still not working. I tried uploading the blink application and it failed with the following error message:

avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding

I also can't view any data in the serial terminal when I connect the power source to the mote.

One thing I noticed is that for the Uno board, you actually don't need to install any drivers. The first time I tried to set it up I installed drivers, not knowing that I didn't need them. Would removing the driver maybe get it working?

Thanks,
Adam

I removed the drivers and rebooted. Still having the same problems.

Hi,

Did you try with 19200 bps instead 9600 bps?

It doesn't work with either baudrate

Hello,

Try with the Arduino with microcontroller (the one in SquidBee), if you can upload a code is that the driver / connection is working fine.

Then, upload again the SquidBee code and try to receive data with the gateway.
