I'm trying to use the GPS features of the 3G shield.

Ultimately I'd prefer to use the standalone feature.

The main problem is knowing when the device has a lock on the GPS positions. On reading the AT command manual there seems to be two startup routines:

AT+CGPSCOLD

AT+CGPSHOT

what are the differences between these two routines? Also - is there a way to get a notification when the GPS has got a location? Or do you just have to keep sending the AT command until it doesn't return ,,,,,

Thanks

Hello jimiminyjimjim,

You're right

You have to keep sending the AT command until it doesn't returns ,,,,, If you want to get a notification when the GPS has got a location.

About the functions:

AT+CGPSCOLD The command is used to cold start GPS session. When is the first time you start the session.

AT+CGPSHOT The command is used to hot start GPS session. When you have connected recently. Theoretically would be less time synchronization.

Regards.
